Seniors who retired prior to the advent of the smart phones and tablets are at a disadvantage when it comes to online shopping. They may also be disadvantaged from the fact that they no longer and get to and from the department stores that they shopped at when they were younger and more mobile. Online shopping is a means to overcome the sensation of isolation. However, they are usually in the company of persons like themselves, so they cannot readily get advice on how to use smartphones, tablets and associated apps. Enter Amazon. Amazon is the world's largest online retailer. The company, founded in 1995 and headquartered in Seattle, Washington was originally a book seller.
